Weekly Message - December 8-12
As we move into December, the school is buzzing with events, programs, and celebrations. This week’s update includes details on winter break, a look back at our Activity Day, upcoming clubs and opportunities, and a few important reminders for the weeks ahead. Here’s what’s happening at CNG.
Reminder – Winter Break dates
Winter break is approaching; the last day of classes for students is Friday, Dec. 19. Classes will dismiss at the regular Friday dismissal time of 12:10pm and resume at 8:05am on Monday, January 5, 2026.
Activity Day Windup
Activity Day was a terrific success this year. Thank you to all the volunteers who helped with so many trips. We’re grateful to our students for being awesome community members out there on all their trips and in different facilities. Thank you to all the families for getting their students organized and prepared for the day!
A very big thank you to our School Council and Parent Association for paying all transportation costs. This contribution allows us to run a wide variety of activities and opportunities for all our students. Thank you to all our families who help with fundraising through Fun Lunches and Casinos. These events are key to our success and wouldn’t be possible without your support.
Bike Club
We’re happy to bring back the Earn-a-Bike program with our partners at Two Wheel View. Application forms are available in the Foods and Construction labs, and completed forms can be returned to Ms. Brinker or Ms. Muldrew by December 16. There are 15 spots this year, and the club is open to students in grades 7 to 9.
Scholastic Book Fair
Our Scholastic Book Fair is here! We will provide an opportunity for students to visit the fair during their scheduled in-class date and time. Please note our shopping dates:
Monday, December 8 – Preview of the Fair & prize entries
Tuesday, December 9 – Preview of the Fair & prize entries
Wednesday, December 10 – Grade 6 & Grade 9 in-class shopping day
Thursday, December 11 – Grade 7 & Grade 8 in-class shopping day
Friday, December 12 – “Last chance” for in-class shopping - all grades
Our annual Scholastic Book Fair is an important fundraiser for our Learning Commons, as well as a well-loved event for our students! Thank you for your continued support of our Book Fair!
Picture Retake Day
Lifetouch will be at the school on the morning of December 10 for students who missed the first picture day or weren’t satisfied with their original photos. Students needing a retake will be called down from their classes throughout the morning.
Veterans Food Drive
We’re wrapping up the Veterans Food Drive this week, and the food drive has been a great success. Our Leadership students care deeply about this work, and our Grade 9 Leadership class has put a great deal of work into this initiative.
Leadership students will be conducting the final count of items and the winning homerooms will be announced later this week.
Food boxes will be collected this Tuesday, December 9, 2025.

School fees are now active on MyCBE. You can pay online through your MyCBE account.
- Lunchroom Supervision Fee
This is a monthly fee. October has been prorated to reflect the teachers’ strike. - Semester 1 Course Fees (Grades 7–9)
All course fees for Semester 1 have been added to student accounts. - Yearbook (Optional)
This fee must be added manually under the School Based Optional Fees tab.
Only pay this fee if you plan to purchase a 2025–2026 yearbook.
Yearbooks must be pre-purchased online. The deadline is May 31, 2026.
To purchase: - Log in to MyCBE
- Select “Student Fees and Service Registration”
- Select your child
- Scroll down and open “School Based Optional Fees”
- Add the School Store Sale – Yearbook to your cart
- Go to your Shopping Cart (top right corner) to complete payment
