Weekly Message - November 10-14

Fall Break – November 10–14

As part of the regular CBE instructional calendar, Fall Break (Nov. 10–12) will proceed as scheduled. After careful consideration, the CBE determined that changing the school calendar at this time would significantly impact staffing, transportation, and family plans already in place.

The school will be closed from Saturday, November 8 through Wednesday, November 12, and will reopen on Thursday, November 13

In addition, Friday, November 28 will remain a non-instructional day, with our school using this date for parent-teacher conferences. No further changes will be made to the instructional calendar for November or December. The CBE will continue to review the calendar and share any future updates directly with families.

School Council Information

Our next School Council meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 19 at 6:30 p.m. in the Learning Commons. School Council meetings are a great way to stay informed, share your voice, and support school initiatives. We welcome all parents and guardians to attend because your involvement helps strengthen our school community.

Annual Winter Activity Day

Winter Activity Day is taking place on Thursday, December 4. Forms were sent home with students last week, and Tuesday, Nov. 4, marked the first opportunity for students to sign up for Winter Activity Day. It’s great to see so many already registered during our first-day sign-up, and we are very much looking forward to an amazing day! There’s still space available on many trips, so students can bring their form and payment to the PE office before or after school any day this week.

Our Annual Winter Activity Day is a huge undertaking. Providing multiple field trips for nearly 1,000 students across the city and surrounding area takes a tremendous amount of coordination and we need your support! If you are able to volunteer to join one of the trips, please contact Ms. Connolley at alconnolley@cbe.ab.ca to receive a volunteer form. This is our first call for parent volunteers to join us for Activity Day, and we would love to have you be part of it.

To be eligible to volunteer, you must have CBE security clearance. If you’re unsure whether your clearance is current for this school year, please call or stop by the office to confirm. Your support helps ensure that every student can participate safely and enjoy a great day of experiences beyond the classroom.

If your child will be absent on December 4, please email Ms. Connolley at alconnolley@cbe.ab.ca. Since there will be no group remaining at the school that day, all students attending must be registered in an activity.

All permission forms need to be signed by a parent or guardian and returned by students to the bin in the gym as soon as possible.
