Weekly Message - November 17-21

We’re heading into a full week with School Council on Wednesday and several rescheduled basketball games. Our Junior Boys team is at home on Tuesday, and it will be great to have games back in our gym. The rest of our teams are on the road this week, with details listed below. All of this is on top of the usual rhythm of classes, fun lunches, and everything else that makes our middle school such an active and engaging place.

School Council Information

School council is meeting this Wednesday, November 20 in our Learning Commons at 6:30pm. Please join us if you can.

Parent Teacher Conferences

Parent teacher conferences will be held on November 27 & 28. There is a full day of classes on Thursday with dismissal at 2:45pm. There are no classes for students on Friday, November 28.

All of the conferences will be in-person and held in classrooms. Thursday evening conferences will begin at 4:00pm and end at 8:00pm. The Friday conferences are from 8:00am until 2:00pm

The booking system will be accessible at 8:00am on Monday, November 24 to schedule your appointment through MyCBE.

Annual Winter Activity Day

Thank you to all the parents who have already signed up to volunteer. We still need many more so if you are willing to be a volunteer for our trips, please make sure your paperwork is current for this school year in the office. If you are unsure if yours is current, please stop in or call the office to find out.

We are missing many forms for the trip from our students. Please ask your child if their form is in and help them get that handed in as soon as possible so that everyone has the opportunity to participate in this amazing day.

Veterans Holiday Food Drive

Our Grade 9 Leadership students are launching the Veterans Holiday Food Drive this week. We weren’t able to run our usual collection before Remembrance Day, so we’re shifting the timing and focusing our efforts through December instead. This drive supports veterans in our community who have served, or are currently serving, and helps ensure that no one goes without food over the holidays.

A short video introducing the organization we’re supporting can be found here

The drive runs for the next three weeks, with Grade 9 Leadership students collecting donations from each homeroom on Tuesday, December 9.

Each grade will have its own homeroom competition again this year. Classes will receive a score card that lists urgently needed items and their point values. The homeroom with the highest total in each grade will win a prize.

Students are welcome to donate non-perishable food items or money. Monetary donations count toward homeroom points at a rate of 10 points per dollar.

We appreciate any support families are able to give. Every contribution helps make a difference for veterans in our community
